How It Works

Surprise Presentations Lead to More Giving (#IMOgive)...

Your participation will significantly increase donations.  Donations move us closer to 'doubling the give'.  IMO presentations are critical to the success of the organization and represent our foundation's version of fundraising. The act of capturing kids and adults performing random acts of generosity in memory of someone they've lost is truly priceless and something the world can get behind.  

Here are the simple steps for you to give with your family: 

1. Decide with your family the person you wish to honor and pay tribute to
2. Text IMO's banker (206-641-5271) with 2 things:  your name and name of your tribute
3. IMO's Banker will return a text with your 'IMOgive' number (this is what you'll reference in the video & on social)
4. Select a photograph of your tribute (optional - but nice to share with the lucky recipient) 
5. Purchase a gift that represents your tribute (IMO reimburses up to $100)
6. Choose a place to conduct the surprise give (public venue)
7. Present your gift as a random act of generosity (in memory of) to someone you don't know
8. Record the interaction with your cell phone and post to IMO's Facebook group with your Give # and name of tribute

Q:  Why do I need to text the banker?

A:  Texting the banker allows us to document the gives and track for financial reporting

Q:  Do I have to record the presentation?

A:  Yes.  This is IMO's main method of marketing.  Capturing the priceless interaction is what drives our donations

Q:  Once I complete the presentation, what do I do?

A:  Ask the recipient if they mind us sharing on the foundation's FB group page.  Then upload to our FB group page

Q:  When I post the video to the IMO Foundation's Facebook Group Page, what do I write?

A:  Leave a comment 'IMOgive#____ (the number the banker gave you) and who its in honor of

      example:  IMOgive#1 in memory of Brian LaBlanc

Q:  How do I get reimbursed for the give?

A:  Take a picture of the receipts used to purchase your gift and text to banker (206-641-5271).  He will wire you funds.

Q:  Can I do more than one surprise tribute give for the same lost loved one?

A:  Yes, however you must receive a new IMOgive # from the banker for each presentation/give.  This way, more than one friend or family member can pay tribute to a lost loved one and participate in a give of their own.

Q:  Do IMO Gives have to be 'kid-led'?

A:  Nope, anyone can perform an IMO Give.  Part of our vision as an organization is we become kid-driven and led by the end of 2020 but that does not mean all 'Gives' have to include kids in the presentations.

Q:  How does IMO raise money to fund the Gives?

A:  We're banking on the transparency of our 'give-bank' and recorded giving.  We strongly believe the more we share and highlight the power of random generosity, in memory of the legacies of family and friends, the more the world will want to stomp out the fear, doubt, and uncertainty most social and news outlets thrive in.  Those donations, united on the known good in the world, will ensure this organization lives forever.  One small, simple $10 reoccurring monthly donation equates to one surprise give per year.  Imagine what's possible if we all set up a small simple plan.  

Q:  Would IMO consider special arrangements for estate donations and/or willing to set up endowments?

A:  Yes.  Our vision is for the giving to live in perpetuity.  Please email give@imofoundation.org to begin the conversation.
